Work Study

A message to students about work-study awards

Freshman students who qualified for Federal Work-Study received notification that they needed to secure a part-time Work-Study job before September 9, 2019. On that date, September 9, 2019, if they did not have a Work-Study job they would no longer have Work-Study as part of their financial aid package. All this information was true. HOWEVER, after that date if you want and intend to continue looking for a part-time work-study job YOU CAN! There are always Work-Study jobs being posted throughout the academic year.

Once you find a position you’re interested in, contact the employer and if you’re selected to interview for the position let the employer know that you qualify for Work-Study. The Employer will contact the Office of Student Financial Assistance letting them know that you have secured a position and request your FWS Award be Appealed and Reinstated.

Reinstatement is not a guarantee and will always depend on student need.

REMEMBER: all students are eligible to secure a part-time non-work-study job on or off campus. Freshmen are strongly encouraged to work on-campus.

After September 9th a student is eligible for an employer appeal to reinstate their Federal Work-Study (FWS). Reinstatement is not a guarantee and will always depend on student need.
