Finding a part-time job

Working on-campus has many benefits, such as gaining skills, earning money, and making connections. We have put together some resources for finding on-campus jobs, but we also encourage you to meet with your career coach to start your part-time job search.

Before beginning your job search, please read important information for international students.

How do I find a job?

  • Job fairs are sponsored at various times of the year. Check out the Fall Part-Time Job Fair and the Summer Jobs & Internships Fair
  • myJobs is the student employment job listing system where you can search for part-time jobs. It only takes a few moments to set up your profile and begin searching on myJobs
  • Jobs at IU is the place to look for on-campus jobs that are part-time or temporary. Jobs at IU is coordinated by IU Human Resources.
  • Classified ads through the Indiana Daily Student lists some part-time jobs. Look for hourly, on-campus jobs (unless you qualify for off-campus employment).
  • Academic departments sometimes fill their open positions directly. Contact your academic department and talk with professors for possible job openings on campus.
  • University employers hire many students part-time. Here is a list of IU's largest hiring organizations:

There are many opportunities to work with Residential Programs and Services. You can be a Resident Assistant (RA), Community Educator (CUE), a library student assistant, or summer conference staff. Visit their employment page to learn more.

Recreational Sports opportunities include the following areas: aquatics, intramural, fitness and wellness, informal sports, marketing, facility support, member services, or risk management. View the call-out meeting schedule and learn more.

The Indiana Daily Student has opportunities in writing, photography, illustration, editing, and other areas. You can work in their newsroom at the Indiana Daily Student, IDSnews.com, Inside Magazine, and the Arbutus Yearbook.

The Libraries at IU have a number of positions including but not limited to digitization assistants, stacks assistants, marketing assistants, digital preservation assistant, and many more specialized positions. View opportunities and apply on the IU Libraries website.

Whether you are in the Box Office, Event Services, or Guest Services Management, there are many opportunities to gain valuable skills at IU Auditorium.

Find internships, work study jobs, and many other excellent part-time employment opportunities at Indiana Memorial Union. Areas include marketing, catering, graphic design, event management, and hospitality, to name only a few.

Students can get involved in UITS through opportunities such as a Technology Center Consultant or through an internship.

To remain in status, it is extremely important that you follow the federal regulations regarding employment. It is a serious violation of your legal status to work without authorization.
